Waiolu Ocean Cuisine offers an evolving menu featuring locally sourced ingredients and a modern take on market-driven seafood as guests enjoy a variety of experiences, from an intimate setting for two to conversational-style sofa seating for pau hana outings or family get-togethers.
Situated on the sixth floor of the Trump International Hotel Waikiki on the bustling Waikiki Beach Walk, the restaurant features an open-air dining concept with a casual-yet-sophisticated vibe complete with a full bar, comfortable seating and plenty of space in which to enjoy the stellar menu items and picturesque views.
“We offer impeccable panoramic views and contemporary cuisine, including the freshest catches from the Pacific,” says Waiolu Ocean Cuisine executive chef Joseph Rose, who notes that a new sushi chef and restaurant manager have joined his team and will be helping to revamp the sushi and beverage programs.
“I’m going to introduce a tasting menu in December that will change weekly, if not more often.”
Chips & Dip ($17) offers guests a flavorful appetizer as smoked kampachi dip pairs perfectly with house-made taro chips. Rose explains that this dish was so popular as part of dinner service that it became a customer favorite and must-have option on the new lunch menu.
Thai Bouillabaisse ($45) is a seafood lover’s dream as the traditional stew is crafted with fish, clams, mussels, shrimp, octopus, scallops, squid and fennel, and is accompanied by chard, country bread and a hearty rouille sauce.
Ginger Braised Prime Beef Short Rib ($43) is packed with flavor as the tender beef is accented with sesame soy glaze, gobo, shiitake mushrooms and served with okayu rice porridge.
