As it has done over the past quarter century of serving generations of local patrons, Big City Diner continues to supplement its menu mainstays with fresh new additions, including popular protein-packed keto-friendly items.
The iconic eatery has made a lasting impression with its locally influenced cuisine since 1998. Big City Diner offers incredible value as the go-to Hawaiian-style diner for fresh and hearty meals served in a family-friendly atmosphere.
The keto diet helps the body burn fat and relies on a high-fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate approach to dining. Guests may turn their favorite sandwiches and burgers into lettuce wraps to make them “keto style,” including Da Big Burger ($19.99) that features a charbroiled burger patty with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, honey-cured bacon and fresh avocado, along with a side salad.
Pulehu N.Y. Steak and Roasted Garlic Shrimp ($33.49) is a popular keto menu entrée in which choice N.Y. strip steak is grilled medium-rare with two roasted garlic shrimp skewers and fresh sautéed vegetables.
The Big City Cobb Salad ($18.99) is a “not-so-traditional Cobb.” Hickory-smoked turkey, diced ham, chopped tomatoes, red onion, black olives, California avocado, jack and cheddar cheese are presented atop chopped romaine lettuce.
“Guests love everything from our fresh salads, healthy selections and our new keto menu to all-day breakfast selections and a full bar offering draft beer, wines by the glass and assorted liquors,” says Big City Diner owner and president Lane Muraoka.
