Guieb Café, a family-owned and -operated establishment, has been making customers feel like ohana with its delicious homestyle meals since it first opened last June. The inspiration behind the café, however, began in 2006 with a catering business.
“Culinary has always been a running staple in our family from our grandparents, parents and even the kids,” says Precious Guieb, manager of Guieb Café. “We enjoyed hosting parties and catering toward others during events so what better way to express that than through Guieb’s Catering.”
Catering services include (but are not limited to) fundraisers, bentos, office events, birthdays, graduations and more.
Guieb Café serves quality meals to not only its customers, but also to the community at large. The Guieb family has been offering free hot meals to people in need even prior to the café’s opening; serving at least 250 plates through drive-up distributions.
“We try to do this as often as twice or three times a year, and having our large following on Instagram (@guiebcafe) has helped us spread the word more,” says Guieb.
Whether you want to enjoy Guieb’s Garlic Shrimp ($14) first thing in the morning or the Hawaiian Pancakes ($12) during lunch, everything is fair game as every item on the menu is served all day.
Another local favorite is the GC Mix Plate ($15), which includes fried chicken, breaded fried fish, Spam and teriyaki prime rib.
Both Guieb Café locations in Kalihi and Wahiawa are open for dine-in and takeout from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Walk-ins are welcomed but reservations are encouraged, especially on weekends.
