A mid the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, Murphy’s Bar & Grill has introduced weekly dinner specials that offer enough food for two people, and take the stress out of enjoying a hearty meal.
Spatchcock Chicken ($22.50) is available this week and features a whole chicken (4-5 pounds) that is split and cooked skin-side up to golden brown perfection before being served with mashed potatoes, corn and a mustard-mushroom sauce.
Diners can also look forward to Sweet Chili Salmon on Caesar Salad ($23.50), as the fish is cooked with an added sweet and savory element from the sauce.
The building next door to Murphy’s at 16 Merchant St. serves as a pop-up togo station for those who feel more comfortable picking up a delicious meal to take home. A few tables are there for dine-in customers, essentially a “Murphy’s Light,” as the pop-up is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.
Friday is “Pie Day” at Murphy’s Bar & Grill, and diners are in for quite a treat. Don’s wife, Marion, makes five or six types of pies every week, and as the restaurateur exclaims, “She’s like a machine making all those pies!”
Guests can choose from multiple flavors, including Key Lime Pie ($9 per slice). As a bonus, Friday diners can fill out an entry blank and a lucky weekly winner will receive a complimentary pie to take home. A recent customer suggested that Murphy send over some pies to the intensive care unit at The Queen’s Medical Center where her relative was being treated. And, it just so happened that the customer won the weekly pie drawing, so Murphy made a special delivery to the hospital to provide pies to the health care heroes there, too.
“We thank our guests for their patience and for bearing with us as we try to get through this together,” Murphy says.
