Stop in for these limited-time local favorites

Ask anyone on the street, and they know what their go-to meal is when dining at Zippy’s. The local restaurant is known for its excellent dishes that keep locals and visitors returning again and again, but once in a while brings back fan favorites or introduces new items that are more than worth a try.

This week, we break down what’s new and exciting on the menu, from tasty twists on traditional plates to winning combinations. And, don’t forget to note that prices vary among locations.

SPICY FRIED CHICKEN ($12.15 FAST-FOOD, $13.95 RESTAURANT) APRIL 9, 16, 23 AND 30

Every Friday in April, kick things up a notch with a special take on traditional Zippy’s fried chicken. It’s “more of a local spicy,” shares marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki, who adds that the flavor profile has hints of garlic and kimchi.

OKAZUYA PAC ($13.25 FAST-FOOD, $15.25 RESTAURANT) APRIL 5-MAY 2

Take a trip down memory lane with an old-school okazuya variety pack that comes with fried noodles, golden fried chicken, hoki, corned beef hash and a hot dog. “In today’s uncertain times, it’s sure to bring the warmth and nostalgic feel of the good old days,” says marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki.

CHICKEN KATSU CURRY ($11.30 FAST-FOOD, $12.95 RESTAURANT) NOW-APRIL 25

It’s the best of both worlds, and it’s making a comeback! Expect local-style curry — not spicy nor watery — that’s downright delicious. Paired with Zippy’s golden, crispy chicken katsu, it’s a sure winner.

LIFE IS SWEET

For a limited time — available April 5-May 2 — get your hands on an Ube Napple ($3.50), Chocolate Long John ($2.40) or Lemon Meringue Pie ($13.75). “If you like ube, you’ll love this,” says marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki of the newest Napple. “It’s one of my favorite Napples.”
