When Andre a Tournis-Vagenas moved to Hawaii, she searched high and low for popcorn that satisfied her cravings. Unable to find what exactly she wanted, Tournis-Vagenas began to craft her own ‘corn’coction, leading to the creation of Island Popper.
“I didn’t want kettle corn — I wanted that rich caramel and cheese,” shares Tournis-Vagenas.
“So we developed Chicago-style popcorn with a local twist,” she adds.
Named Maui Mix, the popcorn is coated in dark caramel and cheese, boasting a flavor that goes beyond just sweet and salty.
Other popular blends include Big Island Mix and Tsunami Mix. (Find a full list online at islandpopper.net.)
Be sure to check in every week for new and limited-edition flavors, like Haupia Chocolate, Sour Cream and Onion, and Cracker Jacks, which feature in-house roasted nuts.
