It’s an infrequent occurrence to discover a restaurant that offers a sumptuous array of food. It’s even better when it provides an experience that won’t break the bank with all-you-can-eat options. McCully Buffet in Honolulu has all its bases covered with a menu that invitingly beckons customers with the best cuisine from the cultures of Japan and Korea.

Everything from Korean barbecue to sushi and more are combined to create a mouthwatering meal for guests. Owner Sam Seo says he’s proud to give patrons top-notch selections at an affordable cost.

Poke, edamame and mussels

“Always sashimi, sushi and kalbi are the most popular items. At our buffet, we serve the best quality food, like 100 percent fresh high-end Hawaiian tuna (ahi) and No. 1 grade kalbi,” he shares.

“Join our Instagram (@mccullybuffet) and you can receive special offers and news about our restaurant,” Seo adds.

Lunch prices are $27.95 for adults and $18.95 for children under 10 years old. Meanwhile, dinner prices are just $37.95 for adults and $29.95 for under age 10. There’s no charge for ages 4 and younger or 4 feet tall and under. In addition, there is a 10 percent off discount Monday to Thursday for senior citizens ages 65 and older, and for military, except on holidays.

McCully Buffet is open daily for lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Some items are made in limited amounts daily and are sold while supplies last.

Ahi sashimi

The restaurant also does catering for any occasion with items like a sushi roll platter, sashimi pupu, garlic salmon steak plate and others.

It also has takeout items like fresh sashimi, poke and sushi bowls, along with a variety of bentos.

“We’re always welcome for your visit,” Seo notes.

The owner emphasizes that in response to the pandemic, the staff follows the government’s guidelines for customer safety, including mask requirements.

The restaurant provides a clean environment, and it has a large dining area that can provide enough space to eat in comfortably.

Seo says that there will be an upcoming special of 10 percent off for takeout during February and March.

Seo also adds that there will be a $49.95 Valentine’s Day special all day from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. It will feature the restaurant’s current menu, plus crab leg, pork back ribs and additional seafood items. Wine will be included with one bottle per couple.

Seo also operates and owns Ahi & Vegetable and goes right to the fish auctions to purchase directly. It provides him the opportunity to buy in bulk and bring the savings to restaurant patrons.

“Customers can also find the famous Ahi & Vegetable bestsellers at McCully Buffet,” Seo shares. “We’re the one place to enjoy fresh sashimi, sushi and yakiniku (barbecue).”

“My first business in Hawaii was a barbecue restaurant and I’ve being doing the fish business, especially tuna, for more than 20 years. I’ve always had a dream to make a place to enjoy fresh fish and barbecue, and I want to serve high-quality fish and meat with reasonable prices,” Seo concludes.
