A Delectable Dynasty

Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant has held down its Ala Moana Center storefront for the last 10 years. Known for classic Hong Kong-style cuisine, the eatery recognizes the importance of authenticity. That’s why its chefs bring more than 30 years of experience to the table, as well as first-hand experience working with the finest China’s restaurant scene has to offer.

With Chinese New Year (Feb. 12) just around the corner, Jade Dynasty is gearing up for some tasty celebrations. From Feb. 5 to 28, try a specialty menu for five people ($188), in which each dish provides a hidden meaning, almost like a fortune. Serving as the people’s choice first-place award for “Best Chinese Food” in Honolulu Star-Advertiser‘s Hawaii’s Best 2020 competition, the biz takes pride in mingling old traditions with new.

“Chinese New Year is the most important festival among Chinese,” says working partner Ave Kwok. “People will go home from all different locations to see their family, friends and celebrate the end of a hard-working year, and the beginning of a new year with a sumptuous meal.”

Requiring a 24-hour notice, the extensive menu features the following plates: Steamed Scallops in 1/2 Shell with Long Rice (lots of elegance on you), Vegetarian Shark’s Fin & Seafood Soup (everything will go smooth, like a fish swimming in the water), Golden Chicken with Roasted Garlic (the phoenix will come and bring you good news), Sweet and Sour Whole Fish (you will end up a plus through the year), Lobster with Ginger and Onion (you will be strong and healthy like a dragon and horse), New Year Good Luck “Jai” (you will get rich throughout the year), Sticky Rice with Preserved Meats in Lotus Wrap (your family will be in strong kinship and have a prosperous year) and, finally, Mochi Balls with Sweet Ginger Broth (your family will be in great harmony).

New Year Good Luck “Jai”

“The chef makes some very traditional Chinese New Year dishes,” adds Kwok.

“Please call for details. Also, we really appreciate the support from our loyal customers during this pandemic period.”

Allowing five per table to follow social distance guidelines and state recommendations, the spacious 8,000-square-foot restaurant perseveres through today’s day and age. Currently offering dine-in, takeout, curbside pickup and delivery (through Bite Squad, GrubHub and Uber Eats), Jade Dynasty welcomes loyal customers and novel guests alike.

“Good food, good hygiene and good service are the main goals Jade is striving to,” concludes Kwok. “To meet the CDC pandemic guidelines, we have private rooms available. All other tables are well partitioned as well.”
