Everyone’s favorite corner store, 7-Eleven Hawaii, has once again collaborated with Honolulu-based beverage biz Ito En LLC — parent company of Aloha Maid juices, Royal Mills coffee and Aloha Wai water — to offer more exclusive iced tea flavors (see photo below).
“Ito En is one of our packaged beverage vendors,” explains Edna Ching, 7-Eleven Hawaii’s marketing manager. “Due to its local manufacturing capabilities, we were grateful for the opportunity to develop our own recipes with the support and expertise of the folks at Ito En. This was really a hands-on project for both teams, and the results are tasty.”
7-Eleven Hawaii first launched Plantation Iced Tea back in March 2018, and now, thanks to its success, new additions Fuji Apple Black Iced Tea and Yuzu Green Iced Tea hit the shelves late last month.
“Fuji apple and yuzu are common flavors for Hawaii,” says Ching. “And tea consumption has increased partly due to places like Teapresso. Blending the two just made sense. The iced teas are not too sweet and very refreshing.”
Fuji Apple Black Iced Tea intertwines the crisp, sweet taste of an apple with the boldness of black tea. Yuzu Green Iced Tea, on the other hand, offers the contrasting connections of yuzu’s tartness with the mildness that green tea offers. Costing only 88 cents per can, the beverages can also be purchased in packs of six or 24.
“We always like to hear from our customers,” adds Ching. “Sometimes they see products in the market at the local, U.S. and international levels that we may not know about. Some may fit, some may not. But the ultimate goal is to offer more products and services that our customers want.”
