Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant managers Gary Chan, Lok Zheng and Jin Mo pose outside the restaurant with their Hawaii’s Best 2020 award for “Best Chinese Food,” as chosen by Honolulu Star-Advertiser readers.

It’s a decade and counting for Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, which has made a name for itself with exquisite five-star dishes that blend traditional and modern in tasty ways. In fact, its posh portions are what garnered the Ala Moana Center eatery the people’s choice first-place award for “Best Chinese Food” in Honolulu Star-Advertiser‘s Hawaii’s Best 2020 competition. True to its gemstone-inspired moniker, the restaurant focuses on quality meals and an inviting ambiance.

“Jade is a precocious stone, generally treasured in the Orient,” explains general manager Gary Chan. “We hope Jade Dynasty’s value will be appreciated from generation to generation.”

Golden Threaded Shrimp ($12.95)

The extensive menu features Chinese restaurant favorites with local twists and flavor profiles that elevate dishes to the next level. From seafood selections and plentiful pork options, to your favorite dim sum dishes and a number of veggie variations, there really is something for everyone in the family when dining in at Jade Dynasty.

Each table is separated by partitions for private, safe dining.

Those that do choose to eat at the luxurious restaurant — look up for a glance at the custom-made chandeliers and appreciate the tailor-made chairs before sitting — can expect a higher level of privacy and safety with new partitions that separate each table. Oh, and don’t forget to ask about private rooms, too.

Jade Dynasty also knows there are just some dishes that are made to be eaten as soon as they’re prepared; some just aren’t made for takeout. During this time, though, expect weekly to-go specials that cater to everyone seeking a little upscale Chinese comfort food at home — and enough food to ensure amazing leftovers the next day. To that end, Jade Dynasty now offers curbside pickup, and accepts cash and credit card (either prearrangement or on the spot).

Honey & Garlic Rib ($15.95/order); Crab with Special Black Bean Sauce (market price); and Mochi Rice in Stone Pot ($17.95/order)

“We wanted to create dishes with takeout in mind,” explains Chan.

Takeout on the menu for the this week Wednesday-Saturday include Chrysanthemum Chicken ($18.95/half) and Stir-fry Beef Tripe with Pickle Mustard Green ($16.95/order). The Chrysanthemum Chicken is smoked and moist, with rich flavors and undertones that permeate every bite, while the Stir-fry Beef Tripe with Pickle Mustard Green is a fresh iteration that perfectly walks the line between sweet and sour, and is served with the chef’s special sauce.

So, whether dining in or taking out, you can always look forward to a family-style feast that’s elegant and delectable.
