Get on down to the Garden

Honey Walnut Prawns ($14.95)

Find authentic Northern Chinese cuisine in the heart of Moiliili at Maple Garden Restaurant. For nearly five decades, it’s been a gathering place for families and friends to celebrate, talk story and enjoy a delicious meal together. Now that it’s reopened for dine-in service, guests can look forward to a traditional family-style feast with all their favorite dishes. (For now, guests are asked to call in to make dine-in reservations or to place takeout orders.)

Roast Duck ($25 full; $13 half order)

Honey Glazed Spare Ribs ($14.95) has returned, and delights with tantalizing sweet and savory flavors that complement the tender pieces of meat.

“We discontinued it for a while, but we’re bringing it back now,” explains owner Richard Lam.

Another sweet-savory combination awaits in the Spare Ribs in Orange Peel and Honey Sauce ($14.95), which is a house specialty that Lam is particularly proud of.

Salt and Pepper Fish ($14.95)

One of Maple Garden’s bestsellers is the Honey Walnut Prawns ($14.95) that showcase crunchy honey-glazed nuts mixed in with plump prawns in a special mayo sauce. Or, continue with the seafood theme with the lightly battered Salt and Pepper Fish ($14.95). The crispy pieces are served with a garnish of salt, pepper, garlic, chives and chilies for an extra flavor kick.

There’s even a whole Roast Duck ($25 full; $13 half order) — expect crispy skin and tender meat — that’s perfect for sharing.

Whether craving seafood, beef, poultry or just a ton of fresh produce, there’s something for everyone on the menu, and Maple Garden’s plethora of dining options include a ton of vegetarian-friendly options, too.
