Franks for the Fourth

Nothing says “Fourth of July” quite like an afternoon outdoors with fireworks, refreshing drinks and grilled meats — and the people you love, of course.

To keep festivities going and appetites satisfied, Butcher & Bird in SALT at Our Kakaako is holding a magnificent sale on its housemade sausages for those that plan on doing a little cooking this coming Friday.

Normally priced at $11.98 a pound, the butcher shop and bakery is offering its franks for $6.98 per pound for a limited time to celebrate the summer holiday.

“We carry a standard set of flavors,” says owner Chuck Wakeman, who runs the biz with wife Jessie.

Expect classics like bratwurst, chorizo and kielbasa, as well as specialties of Wakeman’s own making.

“We’re going to do one with chili and cheddar cheese, and a bacon cheeseburger sausage,” Wakeman says. “It’s all the flavors of a bacon cheeseburger, including mushrooms and onions.”

There’s also a rotating array of butcher meats, deli items, preset meals and more.

“It’s all the usuals,” Wake-man adds. “Steaks, chops, house-cured meats, ground beef, ground pork — everything you need for the grill.”
