Times Supermarkets opened its first location in 1949 and is now one of the leading supermarket chains in Hawaii. The local business grew exponentially over the years now operating 24 locations: 17 Times; five Big Save Markets; Shima’s Supermarket; and Fujioka’s Wine Times, a fine wine and specialty foods shop.
But don’t think that Times has become stodgy or stuck in its ways; the company is continually thinking of new ways to serve local customers.
The Beretania location in particular is embracing innovation. About three months ago, it became the first Times Supermarket on Oahu to offer a self-checkout stand. Additionally, it has undergone an exciting renovation, and now offers a self-service hot foods and salad bar, a char siu station and a fresh mochi station.
If you want to grab a quick, delicious lunch or dinner, the self-serve hot foods and salad bar ($8.99 per pound) is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The offerings change every day, but among the regular items are Grilled Steak, Beef Brisket, Roast Duck, Roast Pork, Chicken Wings, Fried Chicken Thighs, Beef Stew, Kalua Pig, Lau Lau, Guava Ribs, Smoked Ribs, Mushroom Chicken, Hamburger Steak, Chicken Long Rice, Corned Beef Cabbage, Italian Salmon, Fried Rice, Yaki Soba Noodles and Okinawan Sweet Potato.
Times Beretania also offers a daily self-serve breakfast bar from 6 to 10:30 a.m. Breakfast items include scrambled eggs, fried rice, French toast, bacon, link sausage, Spam, ham, Portuguese sausage and more.
Now is the perfect time to try the new food stations at the Beretania Times. On Page 4 of Dining Out, you’ll find a coupon good for $1 off per pound on smoked meats and items from the hot food station and salad bar. The coupon is only valid at Beretania Times Supermarket and must be presented at the time of purchase. There is a limit of one coupon per transaction, and it cannot be combined with any other discount offer. Hurry, as the coupon expires on Feb. 29.
