For more than 25 years, New Mui Kwai Chop Suey Kailua has served up delightful dining and takeout service within its Windward community.

Nestled in the midst of Oneawa Street, New Mui Kwai Chop Suey stands as a beckoning neighborhood landmark. It’s widely known among local residents for the top-caliber Chinese cuisine, and excellent, friendly service from staff.

Featuring a massive menu of almost 200 choices, the Chinese eatery has something appealing for customers of all tastes. Inside, an airy, vibrant dining area also features tables that can accommodate an intimate get-together for just two people to larger gatherings as well.

Led by dedicated owner Wesley Fang, the business is noted for providing a modern interpretation of classic cuisine. It also staunchly selects the highest quality fresh ingredients for its dishes.

The restaurant currently has a Dining Out coupon for a $30 gift certifi cate with $225 purchase, or a $15 gift certificate with $100 purchase which is good until the end of February. Tax and gratuity is included. It’s redeemable for dine-in or take-out orders and the coupon must be presented at purchase. Fang explains that the gift certificates can also be utilized at the family’s bakery led by his wife — Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery at 1027 Maunakea St. in Honolulu’s Chinatown.

The eatery currently has some great Daily Specials for only $7.95, including Oyster Sauce Cake Noodle, Chinese Chicken Salad and Rice Noodles with Shrimp & Chicken.

Among the other customer favorites is the Honey Walnut Shrimp Jumbo Size ($15.95). The plate is piled up with juicy, tender shrimp. These craved crustaceans are enveloped in a flavorful sweet sauce.

In addition, another popular choice at New Mui Kwai is the Kahuku Pepper Salt Shrimp ($12.95).

A MARVELOUS ‘MINUTE’

A best-selling dish that patrons eagerly dive into is the BBQ Minute Chicken Cake Noodle ($11.95). This item revolves around crispy noodles that soon become magically moistened by the luscious gravy that surrounds them. Finishing this dish in fi ne fashion are moist, tender chunks of chicken and freshly prepared vegetables. The melding of fl avors and textures in the mouth makes for an out-of-this-world, delicious combination on one plate.
