For a menu that features a smorgasbord of classic local and American favorites, with something to delight everybody in your ohana or circle of pals, head to Big City Diner.
A trio of $15.99 Weekday Specials, offered from Feb. 24 to 28, perfectly illustrates Big City’s versatility and knowledge of local flavors. Specials are served Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. “‘til we’re out,” chuckles owner Lane Muraoka. Each comes with your choice of a cup of homemade soup or small green salad, for a perfectly proportioned meal.
Just the description of the Grilled Kalbi Pork Bahn Mi Sandwich is enough to make one’s mouth water. It’s accompanied by scrumptious skin-on fries. The Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps come with delicious spicy peanut sauce for dipping, and fresh mint and cilantro for authentic ﬂavor. The irresistible Crispy Italian Sausage Ravioli is topped with marinara sauce and shredded Parmesan, and served with roast garlic bread. If you need something to keep you warm, look for the HOT Korean Crispy Chicken Sandwich, a weekly special that will be featured between March 9 and 13. Piquant with honey-sriracha sauce, this special comes with kim chee coleslaw and those rustic skin-on fries.
Visit one of Big City Diner’s six Oahu locations on St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17, and enjoy a special menu created just for the day! Try fresh Corned Beef and Ka Lei Eggs ($14.99) with steamed white or brown rice, hash browns or paniolo potatoes, for breakfast or lunch. Starting at 11 a.m., enjoy a lunch or dinner of Fresh Corned Beef and Kunia Cabbage for $19.99; add a small green salad for $3.79 and a celebratory shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey for $7.50.
Desserts include Oreo Cookie Mint Chocolate Chip Sundae ($5.79), made with double mint chocolate chip ice cream, and the Double Mint Chocolate Chip Shake ($6.29), topped with real whipped cream and a cherry.
