Zippy’s is helping local diners and ohana prepare for the bustling holiday season with a host of special dishes, sweet treats and gift ideas. The popular restaurant continues to serve up ono local-style comfort food, and those same flavors and iconic tastes ring true through in an array of popular sushi and pupu platters.

The Holiday Sushi Platter ($36.50) is composed of 40 pieces of maki, 16 pieces of cucumber, 16 pieces of takuan and 10 pieces of inari sushi varieties. Three days’ notice is required for this special platter, which will be available for pickup through Dec. 31 at all Oahu locations, and Jan. 1 at select locations (Ewa, Kahala, Kaneohe, Kapolei, Makiki, Mililani, Pearl-ridge, Vineyard and Waiau). For New Year’s celebrations, Maki Sushi Rolls ($6.20 apiece, uncut, limit 10 rolls) and Konbu Maki ($12.95 for a six pack) with pork, carrot and gobo wrapped with konbu and kanpyo are excellent choices. Namasu ($14.95 for Zip Meal, about 2 pounds; $48.75 for a barrel, about 7 pounds) and Chicken Nishime ($18.25 Zip Meal; $57.50 barrel) are also available; the latter of which is a popular Japanese stew prepared with chicken, konyaku, carrots, sataimo (taro balls), renken (lotus root), gobo, bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms.

Prepayment is required, and orders may be placed online via Zippys.com through Dec. 20 at 10 p.m. Guests may also place orders at select restaurant locations (Kapolei, Vineyard, Makiki, Waiau, Pearlridge, Kaneohe, Kahala, Ewa and Mililani) from Dec. 16 (while supplies last), or by calling 973-0880, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Dec. 16-25 (while supplies last).

Seasonal specialties- Zippy’s offers a variety of sweet holiday-themed cakes, donuts and more.

Orders will be available for pick up on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1), and the aforementioned locations will be open from 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day (except Pearlridge, which opens at 8 a.m.). All other locations will be closed New Year’s Day. Zippy’s Kahului has Maui diners covered by offering Konbu Maki and Chicken Nishime for pick-up on Dec. 31 (prices will be slightly higher than on Oahu).

Zippy’s Pupu Platters make any gathering extra special. Options include the Local Favorites Platter ($34.65) — a perfect combination of teriyaki beef, hoki, chicken katsu, hot dog and Portuguese sausage — as well as Chicken Katsu ($32.60), Korean Fried Chicken ($37.70) and Fried Noodles ($29.50). The platters can be ordered at all Zippy’s locations with at least one hour’s notice prior to pick up.

Zippy’s welcomes families to celebrate on Dec. 24 and 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with Christmas Dine-In Specials, available at both the dine-in restaurants and fast-food counters (while supplies last). Choices include Roast Turkey Plate ($12.15 fast food, $13.95 restaurant), Baked Ham ($9.95 fast food, $11.45 restaurant) and Roast Turkey/Baked Ham Combo ($12.15 fast food, $13.95 restaurant). An additional special exclusive to the dine-in restaurant is Grilled Salmon with Crab & Artichoke Sauce ($17.75).

Throughout December, Napoleon’s Bakery is offering an array of holiday-inspired treats at all the bakery locations within Zippy’s. These include Gingerbread Snack Cake ($2), which pairs perfectly with coffee, and Gingerbread Yeast Donut ($1.55) and others.

From now through Dec. 31, purchase $50 in Zippy’s gi~ cards and receive a complimentary $5 Zippy’s coupon, which is valid from Jan. 2 to March 31, 2020.
