For the 13th year, Menehune Mac has again sweetly “popped up” at Wind-ward Mall. From now through Dec. 24, during mall hours the shop features a holiday location on the mall’s first floor in the former Sears site to make the season even merrier.
“The customers and mall management support local businesses. We look forward to returning with innovative products and new local vendors,” shares Susan Morita, who holds the enviable company title of Menehune Mac executive chocolate taster.
Helping to make your holiday-giving choice a bit more colorful and flavorful at the same time, Menehune Mac sells the Hawaiian Cookie Tower ($19.99 while supplies last). The six layers of more than 40 cookies come in a slender purple box adorned with a decorative ribbon. Included are Hawaiian Mac Nut Cookies, Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, Crispy Coconut Cookies, Buttery Shortbread, Kona Coffee Shortbread and Chocolate Chip Hawaiian Mac Nut Cookies.
If you want to get your confectionary cravings in town, Menehune Mac also has a Kalihi chocolate factory and gift boutique on Waiakamilo Road. It’s open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Founded in 1939, this year marks Menehune Mac’s 80th anniversary of manufacturing macadamia nut candies in Hawaii. The company produces the highest caliber, hand-dipped confections to satisfy customers.
Crafting the sweets by hand creates a thick, rich consistency, and the business uses 100 percent Hawaiian-grown macadamia nuts in its products.
One of the company’s top local favorites is the Dark Chocolate Arare. The crispy, crunchy and salty Asian arare rice crackers are luxuriously coated with fine dark chocolate for the perfect taste combination.
Meanwhile, a No. 1 seller beloved by visitors to the island is the Pineapple Snow Macadamia Nut. These mighty macs are dipped in creamy white vanilla confection infused with pineapple essence.
Customers can also mix and match individual pieces of cookies or chocolates in boxes to suit their personal taste.
Those who are watching their sugar levels can also rejoice because Menehune Mac provides choices like Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Macadamia Nut and more.
Besides edible goodies, the company’s selection of gift products for 2019 also includes other made-in-Hawaii items by Cane Haul Road, Designs by Kadooka, Emi Ink, For J’s, Geoffrey Siu, Mirie, Mulvadi, Shop Toast, TK & Co., and Twiggy.
