The holidays are a time for indulgence, sometimes a little too much indulgence. Maybe it’s too much eggnog at Christmas. Maybe it’s too much champagne on New Year’s Eve. Maybe it’s just too much of everything.

After the smoke of New Year’s fireworks clears, you might find yourself wanting to detox a bit. The Bar at Hokulea, located at Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, is welcoming 2020 with innovative non-alcoholic “mocktails” that are a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds.

Coco Café Pick Me Up ($8)

“This is the first time we are offering these drinks,” says Simone Orlandini, who overseas Hokulea as well as Four Season’s Noe restaurant. “Creating them was a group effort. The mixologists from The Bar at Hokulea and Noe put these drinks together, and try to use local ingredients as much as possible.”

Aphrodite’s Secret ($8) blends orange juice, Greek yogurt, banana, strawberry, coconut water and honey for a fruity, creamy treat.

Seedlip Sour ($8)

The Seedlip Sour ($8) is a teetotalling take on classic cocktails. Seedlip Grove 42 non-alcoholic spirit is infused with baked eggplant chips, then mixed with calamansi juice, lime juice, turbinado simple syrup, egg white and dehydrated eggplant chips for garnish.

For pure refreshment, the Three Ps ($8) blends Pellegrino sparkling mineral water, pineapple, papaya, melon, bee pollen, lemon sorbet and green tea syrup.

The Coco Café Pick Me Up ($8) does just that, mixing Illy espresso, coconut gelato, turbinado simple syrup and turmeric powder.

These creative concoctions are only available for a limited time. “These new drinks are only available in January,” Orlandini says. “They are to help people detox after the festive season. The drinks are non-alcoholic and feature anti-oxidants.”

Orlandini adds that the mixologists at Four Seasons Resort Oahu are already thinking ahead to spring and summer, and he anticipates new, citrus-based drinks being added to the menu later in 2020.

The Bar at Hokulea overlooks the beach and features regular live entertainment as well as some delicious food options to complement your drinks.
