Call ‘dibs’ on delicious ribs

French Dip Sandwich ($16.25 lunch, $17.25 dinner)

Henry Loui’s Restaurant has been satisfying hungry islanders since the 1970s, and it’s still a top choice for people craving delicious food in a laid-back, old-school atmosphere.

The eatery is known for having the “Best Suckin’ Ribs,” and the Half Rack of Baby Back Ribs (lunch $19.50, dinner $20.50) remains a popular choice. This classic is served with your choice of starch and vegetable medley along with soup or salad. “It has been Henry Loui’s premiere dish since the original restaurant existed on Beachwalk in Waikiki nearly 50 years ago now,” says David Lokar, who co-owns the establishment with Anson Kaneshiro. “It remains still one of our best sellers and it takes days of preparation to make this succulent dish.”

The most popular lunch item at Henry Loui’s is the French Dip Sandwich, ($16.25 lunch, $17.25 dinner). “We place succulent prime rib on a fresh roll and serve it with choice of starch and au jus along with a side of horseradish,” Lokar says. “I recommend requesting it with Swiss cheese as it complements the dish perfectly.”

In addition to great food, Henry Loui’s is a perfect place to just hang out and relax.

“Henry Loui’s continues to focus on our nightly karaoke after 7 p.m. which is still very popular with the regulars but also attracts new voices to try their voice out weekly,” Lokar says. “We are always committed to our lounge side and our ongoing effort to show every major sporting event from live NFL football games every Sunday morning to all of the University of Hawaii televised games, as well as a few specialty events from time to time. We have been and always will try to remain a place you can call home, whether it be watching a game, singing a song or just to enjoy a comfy meal around a staff that becomes more an extension of your family rather then a random person serving you food.”

BEYOND THE BEEF

If you want something a tad lighter, Henry Loui’s offers a Broiled Seafood Salad ($21.95 lunch, $22.95 dinner). An array of scallops, shrimp, calamari and ahi are presented on a bed of spring mix served with a tangy dill dressing. “It is the perfect healthy choice while satisfying your taste buds and stomach as well,” says co-owner David Lokar. “It is our most popular salad and second most popular lunch item.”
