Try not to be too jealous when you hear Susan Morita’s professional title: she’s executive chocolate taster for Menehune Mac Candies.
Morita is also part of the team that developed Menehune Mac’s two new cookie flavors, which were introduced to the world this very weekend at the 2019 Made In Hawaii festival at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center.
“We’re actually debuting our new flavors, Arare Chocolate Chip and Cacao Nib Chocolate Chip, at the Made In Hawaii show,” says Morita. “We’ll extend a special offer through the end of the month for our friends from Dining Out.”
At the Made in Hawaii show — and through the end of August for Dining Out readers who visit the Waiakamilo Road factory and mention this article — Menehune Mac is offering one 3-ounce pack of mini cookies for $6 (regularly $7 each) or three 3-ounce packs for $15.
You can mix and match your three packs from flavors that also include Kona Coffee Shortbread, Crispy Coconut, Macadamia Nut Shortbread, and Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut.
Menehune Mac’s delectable Menehune Trio ($7.95) features three pieces each of three different kinds of chocolate: Dark Chocolate Arare, Dark Chocolate Cacao Nib Crunch, and Milk Chocolate Crunch (with crispy rice).
That’s a total of nine pieces to share with your friends — or to keep for your own special indulgence.
Samples of these tooth-some treats will be available at Made In Hawaii 2019, but supplies may be limited. “I hope we don’t run out!” chuckles Morita. “We always have samples available at the factory, too. Stop by for a taste!”
