For those seeking a pearl of wisdom, here’s one — Aug. 5 marks National Oyster Day. The Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach, a relaxing new Mediterranean-inspired cocktail bar and lounge, helps lovers of the succulent mollusks indulge with oysters on its menu.
For example, the establishment helps customers celebrate with its briny, tasty Oysters On The Half Shell ($24 for six pieces).
In addition to oyster items, The Lounge offers a variety of other selections, including Smoked Salmon Toast, Island Ahi Tartare, Pepper Crusted New York Steak & Frittes and more.
General manager Dusty Grable explains that the beverage program features handcrafted spirits, select beers and classic cocktails.
The Lounge, offering poolside service, is one of a trio of new concepts making the resort into a culinary destination. Another is La Vie, which means “the life” in French, presenting a novel approach to modern French cuisine. Third, the destination will also include Quiora, an all-day rustic Italian trattoria scheduled to open this fall.
Situated at the entrance to La Vie in the resort’s Ewa Tower, The Lounge seats 24 guests in comfort and also serves the adult pool and private cabanas. Both The Lounge and La Vie opened on Aug. 1.
Besides the fine foods and beverages available, The Lounge also provides sparkling ambiance with nightly live piano music.
IT’S OK TO BE ‘SHELL’-FISH
One of the delicious dishes at The Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Residences is the Baked Oysters Bourgogne ($18 for three pieces). This menu item is crafted with parsley garlic butter, spinach and toasted breadcrumbs.
