Spring has arrived at last! It’s time for a fresh new season of celebrations – Easter, weddings, graduations, and more. And there’s no better place to celebrate than Canton Seafood Restaurant on Keeaumoku Street in Honolulu.
“Our party menus are great for all kinds of occasions, and our dining room can hold 140 people,” says manager Henry Gong. The restaurant’s cuisine, he adds, is focused on healthful preparation. “Our food is cooked with less oil, salt, and MSG. And our prices are very, very good!”
Canton Seafood’s five elegant party menus range in price from $198 to $398, and each is designed to feed 10-12 people. Most popular is the menu for $248, featuring nine impressive courses. The feast begins with Seafood Tofu Soup and a whole Peking Duck, and then a pair of Lobsters prepared with Ginger and Onion. It continues with an entire House Special Chicken, a platter of crowd-pleasing Shrimp and Walnuts with Mayonnaise, and Abalone with Black Mushrooms and Vegetables.
Next on this party menu: the bright and tasty Tenderloin Steak with Spring Beans, followed by the restaurant’s Seafood Fried Rice, loaded with succulent bits of fish and seafood. The feast ends with the Dessert of the Day.
During the Year of the Boar, many feasts include a course that features pork in one of its many delectable preparations. “Our Braised Pork Belly ($13.99) is very good, not fatty at all!” Gong says. “It’s served on a bed of baby bok choy.” Add an order to your feast as an extra course for just $13.99, or substitute it for any of the choices on your selected party menu.
Canton Seafood moved to its current location eight years ago. The restaurant’s delicious, reasonably priced meals continue to draw great numbers of native Chinese to its tables.
