Il Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar founder Wolfgang Zwiener named his authentic Italian restaurant Il Lupino, which translates to “little wolf” in Italian. It was the nickname he acquired when traveling throughout Italy discovering his passion for that nation’s cuisine. As he explored the country, his desire grew to establish an eatery serving his favorite foods.
Now, this famed restaurant in Waikiki will usher in 2019 with grand style by holding a New Year’s Eve party with a James Bond “007 theme,” fit for a spy of the most daring caliber. The event will be held from 10:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1.
Dress to impress for this “top-secret” get-together, a party that will leave you “shaken, not stirred.” The festivities will feature music by DJ Chaddy Daddy and a dance floor. Guests can enjoy the special New Year’s Eve late night tapas menu, including oyster shooters, caviar and more. Champagne, a full bar and a “selfie station” will also be available.
Just a few of the varied items on the New Year’s Eve party menu are appetizers like Carpaccio Crudo, which consists of swordfish carpaccio, pickled shallots, capers and strawberry vinaigrette. Entrees one can order include Gnocci alla Romagna, which are semolina and polenta gnocchi baked with lamb ragu and lollipop lamb chop. For an indulgent dessert, choose a fruit tart, chocolate mousse cake, tiramisu or panettone.

Besides the merriment at the start of the year, enjoy yourself throughout the year with Il Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar’s happy hour menu, which is offered daily from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the bar.
Among the happy hour items to choose from is the Burger ($10), which consists of a juicy prime beef patty, Waipoli greens, Hauula tomato, shaved red onion and mozzarella cheese.
Another scrumptious selection on the happy hour menu is Grilled Octopus ($13), which comes with heirloom cherry tomato, Waipoli greens, basil pesto and roasted red pepper aioli.
