Known around the globe as “The world’s most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant,” Tim Ho Wan recently introduced its gourmet-style dim sum to local diners.
Tim Ho Wan is an internationally recognized brand that opened the doors of its first Hawaii location in late April of this year at Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki — the restaurant seats about 90 people and offers both indoor and outdoor dining options.
The eatery’s menu highlights authentic Cantonese flavors that harken back to the original Hong Kong location’s dining options, while also featuring Waikiki-exclusive dishes and beverages. Each dish is made to order — a process that has helped Tim Ho Wan develop a reputation as the “Dim Sum Specialists” as quality, flavor and freshness are highlighted throughout each selection.
“We hand-make our dim sum, so we can provide the best quality and great value, especially in the Waikiki area,” says Anna Tam, general manager of Tim Ho Wan Waikiki. “We offer a wide range of options, and you really must try our dim sum and taste the freshness.”
Diners clamor for Baked BBQ Pork Buns ($5.75 for three pieces), which are served hot right out of the oven and couple the perfectly cooked buns’ hint of sweetness with a delicious pork-filled center.
Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf ($6) allows guests to unwrap the leaf that envelopes a creative blend of chicken, Chinese mushrooms, sausage and more within a rice ball that is stuffed before being cooked.
Tim Ho Wan serves up an array of classic dim sum varieties such as Steamed Shrimp and Chives Dumplings ($5 for three pieces), which feature bold flavors and are cooked to the ideal consistency. Kamaaina diners also enjoy Steamed Pork Dumplings with Shrimp ($5.25 for four pieces), known traditionally as siu mai.
The restaurant also features a diverse beverage menu, offering specialty drinks including Signature Hong Kong Iced Milk Tea ($5.50) and Rainbow Mango Slush ($5.75) — two of the many refreshing choices available.
Diners at Tim Ho Wan receive an hour of validated parking in the shopping center’s convenient covered lot. And, as a special deal just in time for the holidays, guests who purchase $50 in gift certificates will receive a bonus $10 gift certificate to redeem from Jan. 2-March 31, 2019.
Starting this week, customers can also get their dim sum fix from home or in the office, as orders are expected to be available through Bite Squad food delivery service.
