As the holiday season makes its anticipated arrival on the calendar, Fendu Boulangerie is serving up pumpkin-infused treats to usher in fall.

Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake ($4.95)

Chef and owner Niel Koep and his skilled team create an array of popular items from scratch daily, and craft family favorites available from breakfast through dinner. Koep explains that fendu means “split,” as is the case with multiple varieties of freshly baked bread coming out of the oven piping hot.

Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake ($4.95) is a seasonal item available now through mid-December, and is constructed like a pumpkin pie, but denser. The cheese-cake features notes of cinnamon and nutmeg and is encapsulated in a baked almond crust.

Kiawe Smoked Chicken Pizza ($13.75)

Another seasonal option available through mid-December is Pumpkin and Almond Financier ($3.99), a French almond cake flavored with pumpkin and hazelnut. The dessert offers a moist but dense texture.

For those looking for a flavorful meal throughout the day, order up a Kiawe Smoked Chicken Pizza ($13.75). The 8-inch round pizza features a rich creme fraiche white sauce topped with mozzarella and goat cheese as well as pancetta bacon, sauteed sweet onions, kiawe-smoked chicken and cilantro as a garnish.

“We bake items fresh daily with no preservatives or shortening. We use butter and olive oil and don’t over-sugar things compared to a typical bakery,”

says Koep. “In the European style, the emphasis is not as heavy on incorporating sugar, and we’re able to still offer desserts that are sweet and delicious. There is a good variety to choose from when you come visit us.”
