Aloha Salads continues to bring its “Healthy, Fresh, Local” approach to cuisine, as the restaurant features high-quality, good-for-you meals that go above and beyond the typical green salad.
Diners can enjoy Aloha Salads’ offerings at six convenient Oahu locations — downtown Honolulu, Kahala Mall, Pearlridge Center, Kailua Shopping Center, Kapolei Commons and Mililani. As a testament to the top-notch, delicious options available, Aloha Salads recently was honored as the home of “Hawaii’s Best Salad” in the 2018 Honolulu Star-Advertiser‘s People’s Choice Awards.
“The recognition is awesome, and we’ve been in business for 14 years — with so many restaurants opening over that time, a lot of businesses are starting to parallel what we’ve been doing all along,” says Christopher Lufrano, who owns Aloha Salads with wife Sara. “We were all about supporting local farmers and products before that sustainable practice became trendy. We’ve built those relationships over the years and continue to stick to our mission, which helps sustain local farms and economy.”
Aloha Mediterranean ($10.25, $8.25 small) is an example of the diverse flavor profiles available at Aloha Salads. This customer favorite is built with locally sourced romaine hearts, Ho Farms grape tomatoes,
Kalamata olives, feta cheese, bell peppers, red onions, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, dill and a house-made Mediterranean vinaigrette.
Ono Island Ahi ($13.50, $9.50 small) features fresh line-caught ahi brought in daily with mixed field greens, mangoes, avocado, coconut, strawberries, green onions and bean sprouts with a house-made mango vinaigrette dressing.
In addition to salads, customers can find ono sandwiches, like Caprese ($8.75) on the menu. This delectable creation features Hauula tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, red onions, mixed greens and a balsamic vinaigrette within fresh baked bread.
The eatery also offers a customizable “Design Your Own” Fruit Bowl ($4.75), which is made to order and allows guests to choose five fresh fruits — customers can pick from an array of options, such as mango, strawberry, papaya, banana, mandarin orange, apple, shredded coconut and even lychee.
“We’re a mom-and-pop, family-based business even though we’ve expanded to five locations, and it’s still about serving high-quality food made to order with locally sourced products,” says Lufrano. “We’re here to cater to our customers and want them to be happy and healthy, all while making sure our salads are anything but boring. We really believe in supporting the local farms and want them to continue to grow.”
Earlier this year, Aloha Salads introduced a mobile application that lets diners order and pay ahead of time, so that one’s meal is ready to grab-and-go upon arriving at the restaurant.
