Peking Duck ($38 for a whole duck)

Located in the midst of bustling downtown Honolulu, The Mandalay restaurant beckons customers seeking the best in Chinese cuisine.

Whether it’s for a small business gathering, a huge party, or anything in between, The Mandalay can accommodate guests’ needs.

In fact, the palatial Alakea Street establishment can seat more than 300 customers for weddings, banquets or family gatherings. VIP rooms also can be set up in a variety of configurations using handy dividers for privacy.

Seafood with Vegetables in Taro Basket ($19.95 small, $38 large)

Besides having a warm, inviting ambience, The Mandalay earns rave reviews in the community with the indulgent flavors of its food.

For example, one wildly popular menu item at the restaurant is Peking Duck ($38 for a whole duck). This dish definitely is everything it’s “quacked up” to be, because the succulent meat of this duck tastes heavenly when it’s sandwiched inside the accompanying fluffy white buns.

Another menu item guests frequently hanker for is Seafood with Vegetables in Taro Basket ($19.95 small, $38 large). Small strips of taro are formed into a basket and fried. This crispy edible container is then packed with a medley of fish, scallops, shrimp, squid and veggies.

Letting the seafood flow, The Mandalay also offers delectable Steamed Fish (price varies depending on fish availability). So, stop by the restaurant often to discover what fresh treasures from the deep await you.

Besides the restaurant’s year-round fare, the holiday season rapidly is approaching, so let’s “talk turkey.” The Mandalay management has announced that it will hold Thanksgiving brunch and dinner buffets on Thursday, Nov. 22. Brunch seating will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., while dinner seating will be at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Brunch prices are $25.99 for adults, $20.99 for senior citizens and $15.99 for children. Dinner prices are $30.99 for adults, $27.99 for seniors and $18.99 for children. Both the lunch and dinner buffets will feature turkey with all the fixings, along with soup, salad, desserts and more. Additionally, the dinner buffet will include tender roast pig.
