Yum Cha Hawaii has updated its menu with some tasty dishes, such as Garlic Hawaiian Prawns on Look Funn ($29.95) and Flounder Basket ($25.95).
Garlic Hawaiian Prawns on Look Funn features a half-pound of perfectly steamed Hawaiian prawns flavored with garlic and green onions, and then is served atop a bed of look funn.
The Flounder Basket dish creatively is prepared by deep-frying the fish into the form of a basket, which holds the fish fillet that is stir-fried with a variety of vegetables, such as mushrooms and carrots.
The new menu, which is more streamlined and also includes some new dim sum items, debuted last week. Of course, you’ll still find its signature dishes, including the local favorite Pot Roast Pork with Mui Choy preserved vegetables ($19.95), also known as kau yuk. Also popular are the Roast Duck, Xiao Long Bao (Chinese soup dumplings) and Yum Cha Hawaii’s adorable custard-cream filled Piggy Buns.
Yum Cha (which translates to drink tea in Chinese) opened in January on the ground floor of Uraku Tower on Kapiolani
Boulevard near Ala Moana Center, with free self-parking below. The restaurant serves traditional Hong Kong-style cuisine in an elegant, modern and upscale setting that is spacious and inviting.
It’s also one of the few Chinese restaurants that serve dim sum all day, from open to close. And guests can enjoy a full bar and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
