Located in the heart of Chinatown, Golden Palace Seafood Restaurant is an island staple that has been serving the community with great food at an affordable price since 2001.
Owned and operated by the Lum family, Golden Palace offers Chinese cuisine that represents various regions of the country, satisfying customers’ appetites with traditional and contemporary dishes.
“It’s more Southern China-Hong Kong style,” says Gary Lam, whose father Howard, established the restaurant. “Hong Kong touches bases with so many different people, there are dishes that come from other regions of China.”
Besides serving a range of delicious Chinese food, Lam explains the restaurant is one of those family favorites that will leave your stomach and wallet full.
“Along with having the lowest prices on the island, I can say that we don’t sacrifice quality for quantity,” he says.
SAVOR THE FLAVORS
Among Golden Palace Seafood Restaurant’s favorites is Stuffed Duck ($35) — a nostalgic delight for older generations that also has caught on with younger eaters. A whole duck is marinated, cooked and deboned, before being stuffed with an aromatic and tasty mixture of barley, ginkgo nuts, lotus seed, diced shiitake mushrooms and diced ham. The dish is then finished off with special in-house gravy. Those wanting to taste this scrumptious dish, which serves up to 10 people, need to place an order two days ahead of the desired pick up date.
Another recommendation is Tenderloin Steak with Black Pepper Sauce ($7.95), a hefty cut of beef marinated and cooked to be fall-apart tender. It’s served with black, white and chili peppers, diced round onions, minced garlic, and an in-house black pepper gravy topped with green onions.
