They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day — at International House of Pancakes (IHOP), it’s also the most delicious.
IHOP is an American classic, as beloved as football and an absolute staple like a pair of blue jeans. The restaurant chain has been around in the United States since 1958, gathering family and friends together — and bringing them back — for its famously delicious plates of pancakes and renowned friendly, diner-style service.
Starting Jan. 1 through Feb. 11, IHOP is offering its annual promotion of all-you-can-eat pancakes. “We normally offer this promotion later in the year, but we’re changing things up in 2018 by bringing it early,” says Darlene Balcita, general manager of IHOP’s Kuhio location. Here’s how it works: Order a combo, which arrives with a side of pancakes, and if you want more pancakes, you can get them for free. “It’s a great offer for pancake-lovers!” she says.
The combos are the Ultimate Bacon and Sausage Combo ($11.99), the Ham and Egg Combo ($10.99), Sausage and Egg Combo ($10.99), the Bacon and Egg combo ($10.99) and the Egg Combo ($9.49). They arrive with two buttermilk pancakes, and if you feel like eating more, you can order as much as you can tuck away. If all you want are pancakes, it’s recommended to get the solo pancake order of five buttermilk pancakes for $3.99.
For something fancier, try Double Blueberry Pancakes ($15.39). The plate comes with a stack of four fluffy pancakes filled with blueberries, then topped with sweet, warm blueberry compote and creamy whipped topping.
Balcita adds that there’s more than just pancakes at IHOP. If you’re looking for something else, she recommends Spicy Poblano Omelet ($18.99), which recently arrived to the IHOP menu. It’s a sure-fire way to wake up your taste buds in the morning. The omelet is filled with fire-roasted Poblano peppers and onions, shredded beef, jack and cheddar cheeses, fresh avocado, poblano cream, and spicy, chopped serrano chili peppers.
For something on the sweeter side, order Strawberry Banana French Toast ($15.39). Enjoy six classic French toast triangles, topped with cool strawberries, fresh banana slices and crowned with whipped cream.
There are currently three IHOP locations on Oahu. The Kuhio branch has been open since 2006, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
