If you don’t know what to eat, but are craving something delicious that won’t break the bank, then Fairwood Drive Inn & Pho 27 Cafe in Kaimuki is a must-visit destination.
Located in Kaimuki Shopping Center, the dual eatery, which started in Keeaumoku back in 1995, has become a staple in the community for six years now, with customers coming from all over the island to experience the delicious home-cooked flavors that cover local-style plate lunches and dishes from Hong Kong to Vietnam.
At Pho 27 Cafe, families and large parties can enjoy a full sit-down meal.
Two of the cafe’s favorite menu items, as mentioned by owner Tiffany Ko, are Sizzling New York Steak Platter ($14.95) and Lemon Grass Chicken ($11.95).
As the name suggests, the steak arrives at your table in a hot cast-iron plate before one of three made-fresh-daily sauces — onion, tomato or black pepper — is poured over an 8-ounce New York steak that is grilled to your request.
The meal comes with broccoli, tomato and your choice of rice or french fries.
The Lemon Grass Chicken is marinated overnight with a special lemon grass and ginger sauce before being cooked, without oil, on the grill, with sauteed onions added at the very end.
The meal is completed with rice and a tossed green salad.
Meanwhile, a very popular dish served at Fairwood Drive Inn is Grilled Garlic Ahi with tossed green salad.
Perfected on the grill with salt and pepper, the 8-ounce fillet is topped off with garlic butter and served with rice and tossed green salad.
Also, the Grilled Garlic Ahi plate currently can be ordered as a daily special with rice and mac salad for $9.95.
Fairwood Drive Inn & Pho 27 Cafe is located at 3221 Waialae Ave. and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 739-6688 for more information or to place takeout orders.
