Sakura Terrace Japanese Cafe now offers sushi and happy hour. Known for its traditional and innovative Japanese cuisine, the restaurant recently completed renovations for a new sushi bar, launched a special happy hour menu (available from 7:30 p.m. to closing) and updated its menu.
Among the popular happy hour appetizers are salmon onion featuring a nice blend of sweet and sour flavors from local onions, Atlantic salmon and ponzu; and maguro wasabi made with ahi, avocado and fresh wasabi.
Also for happy hour, enjoy appetizers for just $5, plus drink specials such as a glass of sake for only $4.
When it comes to drinks, Sakura Terrace manager Daisuke Arai suggests sake over beer and wine. “It’s easy to drink and pairs really well with Japanese food,” he explains. “Especially with sushi, the marriage is so nice.”
Also new is Ladies Night every Thursday, starting this week, with sparkling wine and sake at 50 percent off.
PUPUS FOR ALL
Diners can sink their teeth into local favorites such as Chicken Karaage and Agedashi Tofu, both available on the regular menu and during Sakura’s new happy hour.
“Our Agedashi Tofu is kind of special because usually people put cornstarch and deep fry, but we put bonito flakes and then deep fry,” notes manager Daisuke Arai. “It’s really crispy on the outside and soft inside. It’s different from anywhere else.”
