The iconic Genki Sushi logo features a face of sheer determination, representing the original founder’s own resolution to bring healthy food throughout Japan, and eventually to other parts of the world — including Hawaii where there are 13 Genki Sushi restaurants (nine on Oahu, two on Maui, one in Kona and one on Kauai). A new location is expected to open in Hilo later this year.
Known for its kaiten sushi (served on a revolving conveyor belt), and an added interactive bullet-express delivery system at some locations, dining at Genki Sushi is not just healthy and tasty, but also extremely fast, fun and family-friendly.
On the menu are a variety of freshly prepared gunkan, hand rolls, sushi rolls, nigiri and more. Plus, enjoy assorted side dishes, including traditional Japanese foods and local favorites, such as somen salad, udon noodles, edamame, chicken karaage, gyoza and sashimi.
FAVORITES ABOUND
Among Genki Sushi’s most popular dishes are Spicy Tuna ($3.15), Rainbow Roll ($5.15) and Ultimate Trio ($5.15).
The Spicy Tuna, which has been on Genki’s menu from the beginning, features an original spicy mayo-based sauce that customers say is not like anywhere else. The restaurant also makes its own garlic mayo and teri sauce.
Rainbow Roll consists of shredded imitation crab in the middle, and is topped with fresh ahi, salmon and avocado. While, Ultimate Trio has ahi, hamachi and salmon topped with a tasty spicy-garlic mayo and unagi sauce.
