As graduation season rapidly approaches, Shiro’s Saimin Haven has all your catering needs covered. According to general manager Bryce Fujimoto, the restaurant just added new items to the catering menu: tofu patties and corned beef hash patties ($1.70 each).
“There is a lot of fresh corned beef inside of our patties,” he says. “A lot of times, when you go to okazuyas, there is more hash and potato inside. Our patties have a bunch of fresh corned beef. Originally, these corned beef hash patties were $1.25 each, but we raised the price to $1.70 because we made it a lot larger.”
Fujimoto says that customers need to place a minimum order of 10 tofu patties or 10 corned beef hash patties.
“This is going to be part of a brand-new section of our catering menu, where we let customers create their own bento,” he explains.
While customers are free to create their own bentos from the catering menu, Shiro’s also offers popular preset bentos. Bento A ($8.95) is the most popular choice, according to Fujimoto. It’s the only option from the catering menu that is also available in the restaurant and for takeout.
“Bento A comes with one maki sushi, one cone sushi, one scoop of rice, one Spam, teri beef, mochiko chicken, fried noodles and a sliced egg roll (tamago),” he says. “Initially, it started off just for takeout, but it’s so popular that we brought it into the restaurant and it’s available for catering as well.”
Vegetarian Bento ($8.50) is a brand-new item on the catering menu. Fujimoto says it comes with one cone sushi, one sweet potato tempura, one scoop of rice, namasu, two tofu patties and meatless fried noodles.
“Whenever people are planning for parties, they always have some guests who are vegetarians, and up until now, we haven’t had much to offer,” he states. “This would essentially take care of any vegetarian preference that guests may have.”
As Mother’s Day and graduation season approaches, Fujimoto encourages customers to plan in advance for their parties.
“These new bento items and our create-your-ownbento options are geared to make things more convenient for the customer,” he says. “If you know how many people you want to cater for, you can order one bento for each person and not worry about any leftovers.”
