Big City Diner has been satisfying appetites around Hawaii since it first opened in Kaimuki in 1998. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to five locations — located in Ward Entertainment Center, Waipio Shopping Center, Pearlridge East, Kailua and Windward Mall — and has become Hawaii’s go-to spot for comfort food and local-style favorites.
The diner is known and loved for its wide selection of breakfast, lunch, dinner, late-night and brunch menus, not to mention catering services. What plenty of visitors don’t know, however, is that the restaurant also serves a wide selection of healthy options.
Take Fire-Roasted Portobello Mushroom Salad, for example. For $12.49, guests receive sliced portobello mushrooms on a bed of organic greens, chopped romaine, diced Roma tomatoes and sweet red onions. This scrumptious salad is topped with huge croutons, imported Parmesan, red onion rings and fresh lemon — all drizzled with ancho-chile dressing.
