You might still be in the midst of your Easter feast, but it’s not too early to start thinking about Mother’s Day.
Calvin Wong, owner of Royal Garden Chinese Restaurant, encourages customers to make reservations in advance for the May 14 holiday.
“Every year, we have a full restaurant one week before Mother’s Day, especially during lunch time, when we have dim sum,” he says. “Even if we have a full house, customers don’t mind the wait.”
While Royal Garden features dim sum during lunch, a pre-set special menu will be available on Mother’s Day. Two different menus will be served, priced at $388 per table and $488 per table.
The first menu features delicacies like Shrimp with Glazed Honey Walnut, Fish Fillet with Vegetables, Stuffed Duck with Jai and more. The shrimp entree also is available on the regular menu, and Wong says it’s one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, since the glaze is flavorful and light.
“First, they marinate the shrimp, then it’s deep fried with a little flour,” he explains. “When the shrimp is done, they top it with a mayonnaise sauce and mix it together. It also comes with glazed honey walnuts; customers really like it.”
The second menu features several different items, such as Baked Rock Salt Chicken, Peking Duck and a Deep Fried Seafood Roll. Unlike the shrimp entrée, the Deep Fried Seafood Roll is only available on this set menu.
“It’s filled with seafood — shrimp, scallops, fish and onions,” Wong states. “We also serve it with mayonnaise sauce. This dish is very popular, and it’s only available on the Mother’s Day set menu, which is like a party menu.”
If you want to give Mom the royal treatment with one of these extravagant menus, be sure to give Royal Garden a call and order in advance.
