A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: HEALTHY HERB AND HOUSE SPECIAL BROTHS with an assortment of meat, vegetables, noodles and seafood (broths are $8.95 each; sides are priced individually)
There’s something magical and heart-warmingly communal about hovering around bubbling broths that fill the air with smells of exotic herbs and delicious seasonings. The act of cooking ingredients such as glass noodles, dumplings, vegetables and meats in a brewing pot of delicious soup comes together in one epic and highly customizable meal that everyone is sure to love.
At Sweet Home Cafe, the Taiwanese-focused hot pot restaurant offers this culinary dream experience at a notch higher than other similar establishments, creating a welcoming environment that feels like home.
With more than 100 “dunkable” items to choose from, each presented on either green, orange/yellow or blue plates (colors determine price), Sweet Home offers something for everyone. Come earlier from 4 to 6 p.m. and enjoy happy hour, when it’s all you can eat for a set price of $17.95 (excluding certain seafood items) and meats are only $3. The meat special also runs again from 9 to 10 p.m. daily. It’s also good to note that the restaurant is BYOB, and the drinks you bring are permitted, even when it’s not happy hour — sans a corkage fee, too!
The Moiliili establishment not only covers the homey feeling, but also takes care of the “Sweet” part with its famous shave ice dessert, which comes complimentary with all hot pot meals. Also try Iced Milk Boba Tea and Fresh Fruit Iced Tea drinks for $3.95 each. Lastly, look out for new dessert items on their way, as well as new main menu items, too.
