New Shilawon is known for its all-you-can-eat yakiniku and traditional, home-style Korean eats. Visitors also love its variety of freshly cut meats, which range from pork belly and kalbi to brisket, bulgogi, ribeye and more.

Hidden along Amana Street in Honolulu, the restaurant makes sure to treat its guests like family every day of the week. One way it does this is with its Daily Specials, priced at $10.95 each.

Every Monday, hungry diners are welcome to enjoy Barbecue Chicken; Tuesday’s special is Spicy Pork, in addition to a senior discount of 10 percent; the aroma of Kalbi Soup fills the eatery on Wednesdays, while Tile Fish is offered on Thursdays; and Brisket Miso Stew, Cold Noodles and Spicy Beef Noodles round out the specials on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Let’s not forget about the ban chan (side dishes), all of which are made fresh daily. “We try to pair it with what you order,” explains general manager Jandy Lee.

“I would say we are like a family-style restaurant but we don’t do family-style cooking; we cook everything in small batches, per portion and per order,” she adds.

THE PERFECT PICK-ME-UP

Get over next week’s hump with Wednesday’s special at New Shilawon: Kalbi Soup. It’s full of rich flavor since the bone-in kalbi is seasoned and boiled for about 12 hours. The meat turns out soft and tender and is added to a tasty clear broth with long rice. General manager Jandy Lee suggests dipping the kalbi in shoyu or adding kimchee to the soup.
