For diners who want to sit back, relax and enjoy some local comfort food, look no further than Wailana Coffee House. Located on Ala Moana Boulevard across the street from Hilton Hawaiian Village, the restaurant has been “Waikiki’s family restaurant” since it first opened in 1970.
With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, Wailana Coffee House is cooking up specials for the holiday. Offered March 17 from 11 a.m. to midnight, guests can enjoy their choice of a glass of one of its house wines (Chablis, Vin Rosé or Burgundy) for $5, or Irish coffee with whiskey and whipped cream ($5). Then, they can dive into dishes such as Corned Beef and Cabbage, Killarney ($16.95), Roast Chicken O’Shannon ($15.50) or Fillet of Salmon Florentine ($15.95). Special dinners include an all-youcan-eat salad bar, choice of starch (baked or mashed potatoes, french fries or rice); corn on the cob; chocolate mint cake; and coffee, tea or soft drink.
FIT FOR A SAINT
Think green and treat yourself to one of Wailana Coffee House’s St. Patrick’s Day specials. Corned Beef and Cabbage, Killarney ($16.95) is guaranteed to satisfy, as it features moist and tender slices of corned beef draped over caraway-flavored cabbage wedges. It’s served with boiled potatoes and carrots, as well as creamed horseradish and mustard. Guests also may look forward to Fillet of Salmon Florentine ($15.95), which is poached in a court bouillon, served on a bed of spinach and topped with Wailana Coffee House’s very own hollandaise sauce.
