New Eagle Cafe is known for its great customer service, welcoming aloha spirit and comfort food. Established in 1930, the cafe moved to its current location along N. Nimitz Highway in 1988 and has been dishing out delicious entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner ever since.
Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. daily and at 6 during weekends, and customers have a plethora of items to choose from. One of the most popular breakfast menu items is Macadamia Nut Hotcake Combo ($9.85).
“It features two macadamia nut-infused pancakes with homemade coconut cream syrup,” explains owner Tae Im. “It also comes with one egg and a choice of meat — customers can choose from a link or Portuguese sausage, smoked ham, luncheon meat, bacon, Spam or a homemade hamburger patty. This item is available for breakfast seven days a week.”
If you’re in the mood for something savory for breakfast, New Eagle has something sure to satisfy. Im recommends Roast Prime Rib and Half Order Eggs Benedict ($17.60).
“That’s also available every morning, and it’s a popular choice for breakfast,” he says.
For customers dining at New Eagle Cafe for lunch, Im suggests Rainbow Trout ($16.25) because it’s not a common dish.
“This isn’t something that you can find anywhere,” he says. “The Rainbow Trout is boneless and grilled, and it’s served with tartar sauce and lemon. It’s a very simple item, and people like it because it’s a nice, healthy alternative.”
For the rest of the holiday season, New Eagle Cafe will be open today (Christmas Day) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (breakfast and lunch only). The restaurant also will be open on New Year’s Eve from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., but will be closed New Year’s Day.
