Gourmet flavors from both land and sea

Featuring picturesque views of the ocean and harbor, Sarento’s at the Top of the Ilikai is known for its classic Italian cuisine.

According to head chef Chris Mcallaster, Lobster Seafood Risotto ($54) and 8-ounce Filet Mignon ($44) are two of the restaurant’s most popular entrees. He says the former features a 7-ounce Maine lobster tail, pan-seared scallop, shrimp, calamari and manila clams.

“(The lobster tail) is served over a saffron risotto with house-made Italian sausage, and it’s topped with a lobster broth,” Mcallaster explains.

The Filet Mignon boasts a local mushroom demi glace, cipollini onions, haricot verts and “loaded potatoes.”

“These two dishes are always on the menu,” Mcallaster confirms.

Customers can always look forward to a weekly special that incorporates Wagyu beef at Sarento’s, according to Mcallaster.

“It’s an Australian Wagyu,” he says. “We usually do a Surf and Turf — so it could be anything from Wagyu beef with shrimp, scallops or a lobster tail — and the starch and vegetables rotate every week. We’ll even bring in seasonal items, like a baby squash.

“Our different specials featuring the Wagyu beef are really popular,” he emphasizes.

Dining at Sarento’s during the week? Enjoy happy hour daily from 5 to 6:30 p.m., as well as all-night happy hour on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Happy hour features cocktail specials at the bar and appetizers and small plates on a separate menu.

“We’ve been doing happy hour for a few years, but we recently added the all-night happy hour on Saturday nights,” Mcallaster says. “We also have a live jazz band playing on Wednesday night and Saturday night.”
