Already popular in Japan, where it has a few locations, Bakery & Table now shares its sought-after fare with Hawaii’s diners at its Honolulu eatery, which opened March 1.
It is really more like two eateries in one: Downstairs is a bakery filled with decadent pastries, while upstairs is a full restaurant that serves lunch and dinner.
With a menu offering soups, salads, flatbread pizzas, pastas and more, Bakery & Table combines Japanese and Italian cuisines.
It also features a number of signature specialty items, including the Beef Bourguignon ($28), red-wine-braised beef inside a bread bowl, along with potatoes, carrots and broccoli. The whole bowl is bathed in a demi-glace stew.
SEASON’S EATINGS
For a light, refreshing summer dish, Roasted Beet Salad ($12) offers a hearty blend of red and golden beets along with avocado and goat cheese on a bed of mixed greens. The dressing is a blue cheese foam, a light, frothy take on the cheese that complements the salad alongside lemon vinaigrette.
