It’s 6 p.m. and you’ve already put in an eighthour workday, followed by a fitness class that completely kicked your booty. By this time of night, you are past the point of hungry. You are “hangry” — and your appetite is demanding food, fast!
Lucky for you, local eatery GRYLT supplies body-conscious bites that appease even the most aggressive of appetites. Owner Allen Farinas shares that health-savvy GRYLT “conforms to so many types of diets,” a fact that explains why fitness enthusiasts are big fans.
So what makes GRYLT so diet-friendly and delicious? These enticing eats will speak for themselves:
Fresh Atlantic Salmon ($13.45) features a generous portion of fresh-fromthe- sea salmon simply seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt and pepper, and served with citrus-herb sauce.
“It’s a very savory sauce made from locally grown herbs, olive oil and other secret ingredients we just can’t tell,” Farinas teases with a sly smile.
Sides include a salad made with aquaponic and sustainably grown Kunia Country Farms Manoa lettuce, homemade balsamic vinaigrette, red onions and a marinated olive mix on top. For a starch substitution ($1 additional), try the eatery’s signature mashed cauliflower, making for a meal that Farinas describes as “low in calories, adding up to only 400-500 total.”
Fresh Pacific Line- Caught Ahi ($13.45) presents the finest ahi with roasted garlic chili sauce. The fresh catch is served with a mix of local Kunia Country Farms Manoa lettuce and kale salad topped with fresh strawberries, toasted almonds and homemade strawberry vinaigrette. Farro, a healthy super grain imported from Italy, paired with Japanese cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, Ewa sweet onions and more, serves as the plate’s starch substitution ($1 additional).
Angus Steak Platter ($11.45) presents prime Angus beef with Asian-fusion steak sauce. The dish is paired with sautéed garden veggies and a starch substitution ($1 additional) of Yukon gold smashed potatoes.
Find these mouthwatering meals at all GRYLT locations, including its newest Kailua branch situated in the same shopping center as Times. Farinas also mentions that all patrons who are part of the military receive 10 percent off their purchases, as well as one free drink, “to show our appreciation.”
