New specials make lunchtime wonderful

While Anytime Cafe has dishes that are good for, well, any time of day, lunchtime got even more enticing when the eatery rolled out a lunch special menu several months ago. In an effort to keep lunchtime exciting, Anytime Cafe changes the offerings regularly — and a new set is slated to be unveiled today.

“We have regulars who come in and try the different lunch specials. And we have been doing this specials menu for a while, so we wanted to do something new,” says Anytime Cafe owner Cindy Wong.

All lunch special items are available for $10.95 and are served with a choice of soup of the day or mixed green salad. Soups may include cream of corn or tomato.

“It’s a very good deal,” Wong says. “And customers like to have variety.”

A new special is Ham, Peas and Carrots Spaghettini, which features sliced ham, peas and carrots with a choice of tomato or alfredo sauce (as pictured). Spaghettini is Anytime Cafe’s preferred pasta, which Wong describes as “thinner than regular spaghetti, but thicker than angel hair.”

Other items making their debut this week are Chicken and Spinach Spaghettini — with sauteed chicken and spinach, bathed in alfredo sauce — and Baked Swai Fish. Swai is similar to catfish or basa, and here, it’s doused in spicy tomato and bay shrimp sauce, and served with pasta and vegetables.

Pasta Salad with Pesto Marinated Chicken Breast is another must-try lunch special, consisting of onions, bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes and black olives served over spaghettini and tossed in a creamy pesto sauce. Finally, it’s topped with marinated chicken breast.

When Anytime Cafe claims that it’s good any time — it means it: The restaurant also is open Christmas and New Year’s days — and will offer holiday specials during that time.
