While we all value each day just as much as the next, without question there are certain events in life that are momentous: the prime example being one’s wedding day. From the venue to the food and lighting, there is much to consider when planning your special day. For the past year, Pomaikai Ballrooms successfully has hosted some of the Island’s most beautiful weddings to date.
After undergoing an extensive renovation from the inside out, what previously was known as Dole Ballrooms now is virtually unrecognizable. “Not only did we redo the interior design, we also installed a highly advanced air conditioning system, WiFi capability, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment,” says general manager Jeff Marcello. “We wanted to achieve a look that would feel modern, elegant and high-end.”
Featuring two large ballrooms with a combined area of more than 18,000 square feet, Pomaikai Ballrooms is the ideal venue for any special occasion, including weddings, business seminars, parties and more. Located on the second floor of Dole Cannery in Iwilei, the venue offers abundant parking and remains away from the high-traffic hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
As a full-service catering operation, the facility boasts an impressive kitchen led by executive chef Freddie Billena. Specializing in Pacific Rim cuisine with local flavors, Chef Billena offers a wide variety of high-quality dishes such as Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken with Madeira Wine Sauce (starting at $23 for lunch, $38 for dinner) and Seared Cajun Ahi with Wasabi Cream and Papaya Tomato Relish (starting at $23 for lunch, $38 for dinner).
For a limited time, wedding events booked now through April 30 are eligible to qualify for the facility’s “Piialoha” special. The special, valid with a purchase of a wedding package, includes numerous added benefits including the use of show plates, complimentary parking passes, use of a hospitality suite, custom-built stage and dance floor and more.
Equipped with a staff of approximately 75, Pomaikai Ballrooms is dedicated to providing premium service at an affordable rate.
“Everyone here comes from the hospitality industry, so we bring a wealth of knowledge with regard to quality customer service,” says Marcello. “Even with such high standards, our rates are still much lower than our high-end competitors in Waikiki.”
