It’s busy at Nice Day Chinese Seafood Restaurant with all the hustle and bustle of wait staff, and the lively chatter of customers. And that’s just the way it should be. It’s a testament to the food and the people who cook and serve it.

But there’s another factor at work here: They really are nice at Nice Day. The hard-working yet friendly staff, including manager Shirley Cheng, provides a welcoming ambiance before you even sit down to order, which entices folks to relax, enjoy — and return again and again. It’s the way at Nice Day.

And Cheng reminds readers that Nice Day always purchases its vegetables locally, and the eatery is so busy that veggie lovers can rest assured that what you order is as fresh as it can be. Dim sum is the draw here, but don’t overlook the menu. There you’ll find the kinds of dishes that make Chinese restaurants so popular with everyone — including vegetarians.

Mushrooms, Snow Peas and Celery Stir-Fry ($9.95)

Once you’ve tried it, you’ll go for more of Eggplant with Tofu ($8.95). In this popular dish, eggplant is sauteed with blocks of fried tofu in savory garlic sauce. The tofu, brown on the outside and soft and white on the inside, pairs perfectly with the tender eggplant, and you’ll want to order fragrant Jasmine Rice ($1.50 per person) to soak up all that garlicky goodness.

Watching your waistline? If you’d like something light, Mushrooms, Snow Peas and Celery Stir-Fry ($9.95) is a colorful medley of fresh, crisp-tender vegetables stir-fried in a light sauce laced with garlic. It’s simple yet delicious and, as Cheng notes, “It’s a healthy dish.”

Or, give your taste buds a wake-up call with Bitter Melon with Soft Tofu and Black Bean Sauce ($9.95) — a flavor explosion! The bitter melon is tender yet firm, which complements the plain soft tofu while the black bean sauce adds a salty kick to the concoction to round out the party on the palate. Yum.

So, you can just forget the meat and order up your Chinese faves veggie-style in a friendly atmosphere seven days a week. How nice!
