Eat, drink and be merry! What a great sentiment, and one many of us embrace with enthusiasm this time of year.
Of course, overindulgence does have its drawbacks in packing on those post-holiday pounds.
Well, you can party hearty, veggie lovers. We have the skinny on a savory special to celebrate five years of success at The Fat Greek’s Kaimuki location — and there’s no meat or fish involved, so without all that … well, fat, it’s kinder to the waistline.
This is no Trojan horse (come on, get out your history books).
Owner Francois Provenza has a great big birthday gift for all The Fat Greek’s customers — and especially all you Dining Out readers who really love to veg out. He’s created a special vegetarian platter overflowing with a variety of Greek specialties: falafel, dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with spiced rice), spanokopita (spinach and feta filo pie), feta cheese, Greek fries, babaganoush (baked eggplant dip), hummus, pita bread, Greek salad (lettuce, tomatoes, olives, feta, onions) — all for $20. Can’t beat that price for a taste trip to the sunny isles of Greece.
“I want to thank customers for their support the past five years with this holiday special,” says Provenza, who adds that you also can create your own platter, picking and choosing your favorites from The Fat Greek’s menu. Ask your server for details.
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts? Bah, humbug! The Fat Greek is just as jolly as … you know who.
Merry Christmas.
