With so many delicious sweets from countries across the world, it’s comforting to know that Five Star International Buffet has a dessert menu that showcases Hawaii’s fabulous flavors.

Each bite-sized dessert makes for a perfect addition to the restaurant’s buffet (lunch $19 adults, $12 keiki 5 to 12 years old; dinner $48 adults, $24 keiki 5 to 12 years old). But it doesn’t matter how old or young you are, there’s a dessert for everyone in the buffet line at Five Star International Buffet.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Roll, topped with fruits such as green grapes and blueberries, is sure to be a favorite among the keiki, as it was inspired by pastry chef Ryan Lai’s hanabata days growing up eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

If you’re looking for a flavor that screams “Hawaii,” then Pineapple Cheesecake is perfect for you.

“Instead of a standard vanilla, we wanted to offer something that represents Hawaii,” Lai explains of the Pineapple Cheesecake that sits on a drizzle of kiwi syrup. “It’s a nice refreshing pineapple taste without being too heavy or sweet.”

Small pieces of pineapple sit atop one half of the cheesecake bite, while a raspberry sits on the other. Each ingredient not only adds beautiful colors to the pastry, but also a memorable taste that will have you going back in line for just one more.

If Asian delicacies are your cup of tea, Five Star International Buffet has a White Chocolate Matcha with Azuki Beans. “We wanted a Japanese-flavored dessert,” Lai says. “That way, if we have tourists come in, or locals, they’ll see a classic pairing with green tea and azuki. And the white chocolate makes it a little sweeter.”

The White Chocolate Matcha’s finely milled Japanese green tea pairs well with the rice cracker texture beneath, and together the flavors create a symphonious harmony.

And while the extravagant buffet may entice you to fill your stomach, save room for dessert!
