Set the Table for a Zippy’s Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just days away, and while some of you already have dived right in to your Turkey Day preparations, there’s a few who can’t even fathom the stress of putting together an elaborate feast. Well, fear no more, Zippy’s Restaurants once again has you covered with its trusty Thanksgiving Meals To Go Packages. Zippy’s has been a part of Hawaii’s dining culture since 1966 when founder Charlie Higa and his brother Francis opened the doors to the first McCully location, and today with 25 establishments statewide, Zippy’s Restaurants is deemed iconic — a true representation of our island lifestyle.

According to Zippy’s marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki, since the beginning, the concept of the restaurants has always been to serve delicious, local-style and American classics in a no-hassle manner. Thanksgiving Meals To Go Packages made its debut in November 1998.

“We wanted to provide convenience to families by offering foods that are prepared and ready to reheat,” Mamiya-Kalahiki recalls.

Zippy’s Restaurants is busier than ever this time of year as it sells well more than 1,000 turkey meals each year, and Zippy’s loyal customers swear by it. In fact, Mamiya-Kalahiki often relies on Thanksgiving Meals To Go Packages for her own holiday spread.

“These meals are easy to prepare and they are delicious. The fully cooked turkey just requires reheating, plus you have all the sides ready to go as well — all made from scratch,” she says.

A Whole Turkey Package is priced at $79.95* plus tax and includes a 10 to 12-pound (cooked weight) refrigerated and fully cooked whole roast Butterball Turkey, four pounds Poultry Gravy, four pounds Real Mashed Potatoes, three pounds Stuffing, one pound Cranberry/Pineapple Relish and one dozen Sweet Dinner Rolls. A Half Turkey Package costs $40.95* plus tax, and features a five to six-pound (cooked weight) refrigerated and fully cooked Butterball Turkey, two pounds poultry gravy, two pounds Real Mashed Potatoes, one-and-a-half-pounds Stuffing, half-pound Cranberry/Pineapple Relish and six Sweet Dinner Rolls.

You can also order Holiday Sushi Platters, which should be ordered 48 hours in advance. And what’s the ultimate Thanksgiving meal without dessert? You can add on a Pumpkin or Custard Pie ($7.50 each) made from special Napoleon’s Bakery recipes to your package for a touch of sweetness.

“These meals define convenience,” Mamiya-Kalahiki says, noting that reheating instructions are included with each package. “Instead of slaving away all day in the kitchen, you can have the entire meal prepared in one to two hours (depending on the package of your choice).

“We start putting everything together a couple of days before Thanksgiving Eve and send the many packages to the stores on the Eve and Thanksgiving Day. It takes hundreds of employees to put everything together,” she adds. “And we continue to do this year after year because our customers love it!”

Prepayment is required for Zippy’s Thanksgiving Meals To Go Packages, and you can order online by clicking on the Thanksgiving Meals To Go link at Zippys.com. Pre-order with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted) by calling 973.0880. Orders will be taken by Zippy’s Administration Office from now through Nov. 21 and phone orders can be placed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, keep in mind, special hours for phone orders will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov 17-18.

Pick-up dates for Zippy’s Meals To Go Packages are Nov. 21 and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, at Zippy’s McCully, Vineyard, Koko Marina, Kahala, Waipahu, Waiau, Wahiawa, Kapolei, Mililani, Kaneohe, Kailua and Kahului locations.

Thanksgiving festivities continue at the restaurants as well. So, make your next stop Zippy’s and enjoy its Thanksgiving dine-in specials. Roast Turkey Plate ($9* fast-food counter, $10.35* restaurant), Baked Ham ($7.95* fast-food counter, $9.15* restaurant), Roast Turkey/Baked Ham Combo ($9.85 fast-food counter, $11.35* restaurant) and Grilled Salmon with Crab and Artichoke Sauce ($13.75* dine-in restaurant only) will be available Nov. 20-22 from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Zippy’s Dine-In Restaurants and Fast-Food Counters.

“We wanted to offer variety to the Thanksgiving menu for those who wanted another option from the traditional Thanksgiving offerings,” Mamiya-Kalahiki states.

“This time of year is always exciting for us at Zippy’s. It’s great being able to provide our customers with a complete Thanksgiving Meal so they can spend more time with family and friends!”
