Tropics Bar & Grill, located in the beautiful Hilton Hawaiian Village, is a popular eating spot for locals and tourists alike.
Dining Out caught up with Sabrina Zander (who moved to Oahu in 2000) and her aunt, Karen Zander, and uncle, Bernie Metzger, for lunch one afternoon.
Tropics, an eating establishment that proudly supports fresh, local ingredients, also has nightly entertainment by top local artists such as Henry Kapono, and also features NFL games on the tube.
Bernie Metzger: “I got the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich ($15.75). It was really tasty and nicely spiced. And (the restaurant) is on the beach. You can’t beat that.”
Karen Zander: “I ordered the Pepper Seared Rare Ahi Tuna Salad ($21.50). I thought the tuna was perfect, and the greens in the salad are a little different than what we have in Boston, so I like the Hawaiian version of the greens. It was very tasty. I like the good service, and it’s wheelchair accessible. So it’s easy for me to get to, and I also think that it’s quiet enough so you can have a conversation.”
Sabrina Zander: “I ordered the same salad (Peppered Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, $21.50). I like the dressing, and I like the greens. It was satisfying.”
